Historical Fashion: Design School

Happy Friday everyone! For this installment of historical fashion I've found for you a photo of a fashion design student and instructor at Ryerson University back in the 1950's! It looks like they are drafting a pattern for a skirt. This image was found in the Ryerson University Archives.
Things have been a little slow on the blog this week as I am in the process of moving, but I'll be back this weekend with an outfit post.

Historical Fashion: 1930's Day Ensemble

For the second installment of Historical Fashion (any name suggestions?), I wanted to share my love of Madeline Vionnet. She was a complete pioneer in bias-cut dresses, which flatter the body by smoothing the garment over it. Vionnet was a great inspiration of mine in college.

What I really loved about this particular outfit is that it appears so modern and minimal, even though it was made in 1933. It is the definition of timeless and definitely qualifies as Circa Style!

This is part of The Victoria and Albert Museum's collection in London. They really have a wonderful collection that I hope to check in person someday.
